Positioning Practices

“Pratiche di posizionamento – Positioning practices” is both a book and an exhibition, the outcome a two-year project carried out by the students of the MA Photography program at ISIA Urbino. Through residencies, courses, and workshops, the group explored the history of Italian colonialism and its traces in the present, working with archives such as MUCIV, ICCD, and the Biblioteca Nazionale, as well as with monuments and communities in Rome.

Published by Corraini, the book gathers these works and researches after a long process of revision, giving them a structure that reflects the complexity of the subject. It includes the students’ projects alongside contributions from the curators and coordinators, and has been conceived as a place where different materials and perspectives meet.

In July 2024, the research culminated at Villa Romana in Florence, where the students’ projects were exhibited for one month and the book was officially launched.
